No More Excuses!

It is February now. Are you still going strong with your New Year resolutions? Research says that most people give up after the first month.

So you want to lose weight and nothing is working. Maybe it worked a couple of years ago and it was much easier, but the minute you stopped dieting you gained it all back and then some.

What is going on? Why is it so much harder now, especially as you get older? Maybe it’s your hormones that have plummeted since perimenopause or menopause and digestion seems slower. Feels like everything you eat turns into fat and is stored in areas that are very noticeable. You can blame it on your sluggish thyroid, diabetes or cortisol (hormones) or inactivity due to Covid (accumulation of toxic covid weight gain) or just lack of motivation…

The truth is, there are a million reasons you can find and validate as your excuse not to be able to lose weight, but you know as well as I do there is no Real reason and it’s only an excuse. You have to take that first step and recognize that you want to lose weight. Find the cause your body does not want to shed the weight by getting to the root cause and then do something about it! Maybe you have insulin resistance, maybe your liver is toxic and overburdened, and maybe it really is your thyroid and hormones. Whatever the reason maybe you just have to be strong and push forward. It is harder to lose weight as you get older, that is true due to reasons mentioned above, but it is doable if you put your mind to it and have the support and accountability you need.

The quick fix will not last long term. You have to start by making lifestyle changes that are doable and right for you and stick with them. This does not mean you have to starve or eat food that you don’t like. It does not mean that you can’t go out with friends and family or go on vacation and enjoy life! All this means is that you have to be sensible.

Yes! Go out and enjoy the parties, outings and vacations, but make smart choices. And when you are having that brownie, you better enjoy it with no regrets! The minute you regret it, it will be harder for you to go back to the lifestyle changes you made. And if you did not make the best choices, then the next day you pick yourself up and go back to the lifestyle changes you made earlier that worked for you. Remember you are in control of your body and the direction you take

matters. YOU are worth it!
