Stanislav Grof, a well-known psychiatrist, describes mystical or spiritual experiences that are significant, intense, and may lead to spiritual crisis or spiritual emergency. These experiences can be mistaken as symptoms of a mental disorder and may lead to hospitalization and medication treatments.
Dr Calvin Chatlos, a Holmdel psychiatrist and researcher at Rutgers University, is interested in people in the Monmouth / Ocean County areas that may have had these experiences.
