Fun Facts about Swiss chard you never knew you needed to know:


  • Despite the name, Swiss chard does not originate in Switzerland. It is native to Southern Europe

  • Swiss chard by any other name... is also known as beet spinach, leaf beet, seakale beet, and perpetual spinach

  • Swiss chard is a close relative to spinach

  • Swiss chard is a superfood - low in calories yet dense in nutrients

  • Swiss chard is an excellent source of Vitamin A and Vitamin K, and a good source of Vitamin C and magnesium


This is one cool crop that the Monmouth County Organic Fruit and Veggie Co-op loves to work with … with its fantastic rumpled leaves and flavorful boost of nutrition … not to mention (Rainbow) Swiss Chard has all those outstanding beautiful colors to marvel at!
