Sacro Occiptal Technique – A clinically proven, patient-centric healing therapy

“Chiropractic care is based on the philosophy that good health can be sustained naturally,” says chiropractor Chris Pepitone, DC. “We know that the brain controls the functions of every tissue, organ and system in the body. SOT® Chiropractic concerns itself with the function of the central nervous system to ensure proper coordination of the individual’s ability to achieve a pain free state of being. One goal is to break patterns of dysfunction from injury to restore the adaptive ability of the body.”

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) refers to the sacrum (or “triangle bone”) the last major bone of the spinal column - and the occiput (or base) of the skull. The technique is focused on restoring the pumping ability of the cranium and sacrum to ensure proper flow of cerebro-spinal fluid which feeds the entire nervous system and filters metabolic waste. This keeps the nervous system healthy.

Sacro-Occipital Technique is performed by analyzing the adaptive responses of the patient’s body in three positions – vertical, prone (lying face down), and supine (lying face up). The SOT practitioner then analyzes a system of indicators which instruct the doctor where to correct and what to leave alone. These corrections are extremely specific to the individual on each day. We believe the body is dynamic and as such each treatment should be unique to the person and the day.

“SOT seeks to correct abnormalities in the cranium, spine, and extremities that produce back, arm, and leg pain, headaches, and dizziness,” says Dr. Pepitone. “Patients suffering from migraines, neck and shoulder pain, fatigue and nervous system disorders can benefit from Sacro-Occipital manipulation. The best part is that the results are immediate. In addition to eliminating or reducing pain, SOT chiropractic treatment normalizes the function of the brain and spinal cord, which constitute the central nervous system. Sacro-Occipital Technique seeks to improve the overall function of the human being by enhancing physiology. By doing so the body works better and heals faster.”

“For patients suffering with chronic pain,” says Dr. Pepitone, “SOT® provides a clinically proven, patient-centric healing therapy that has been researched and clinically developed since the 1920’s.”

Dr. Pepitone is the only certified SOT specialist and Chiropractic Craniopath in Monmouth County. For more information about his practice, visit purehealthnj.com or call 732-747-0083.
