An article from few years ago in a well known national magazine quoted statistics that 40% of Americans make New Year resolutions, but only 8% of them succeed. On top of the list of the resolutions was to lose weight, followed by exercising more, eating healthier, manage stress better, quit smoking, and improve finances. It might seem, on the surface, that only the lucky few can ever get ahead due to their tremendous willpower.
In fact, many of the folks that fail will set up even bigger goals for the following year in order to make up for their inability or " low willpower" in the past, often working hard on reaching their goals, yet with same results. As the cycle keeps on repeating, it creates frustration and a sense of doom and gloom. Thus, the majority of people give up.
So what is hypnosis and how can it help? Hypnosis has been around for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptian tombs show the use of hypnosis in religious rites. Ancient Greeks used hypnosis for surgical preparation, as well as, for hypno-healing. It has also been used by native medicine men, witch doctors, and shamans. Through the centuries, it has been shrouded in mystery, yet hypnosis is a natural state of mind accessible by each of us. It is a relaxed yet a highly focused state of mind that helps to quiet the conscious mind, and open communication with the subconscious (over 90% of mind), which is the seat of your habits, behaviors, feelings, and memories.
Your subconscious mind does not respond to mental coercion - so please stop beating yourself up! The failure to get results may often be the product of ongoing negative thoughts - for example, " I will never lose that weight" or " Its hopeless-I will never be able to quit smoking" or " I see no way out" or any other similar negative thinking. When using such pessimistic mental statements, and pushing yourself to exert even more willpower, rather than being helpful, it backfires and diminishes the cooperation from your subconscious mind, since there are no clear-cut ideas present on how to resolve the issue.
What can help in achieving your resolutions, and also widely used by professional hypnotists, is a powerful visualization technique. Visualization, or mental imagery, is the language of the subconscious mind. Practicing to picture yourself having overcome the problem, and the excitement and satisfaction that go along, is one of the highly effective methods to reach your goals via creating positive changes in the subconscious mind in the form of new habits, behaviors, feelings, and symptoms. Other techniques also commonly used in hypnosis are positive suggestions, autosuggestions, and age regression.
So, if you feel self-doubts creeping in when you practice visualization, or the inner voice is telling you " no way you can do it - you failed so many times before", or you cannot imagine the progress and the positive changes in details, then using professional hypnotist can help you to overcome these blocks and make the New Year resolutions finally a reality. Are you ready for success?
